General Discussion Thread 03.12.2024

Hey there, members! 👋 How are you all doing today? Are you starting to get busy with holiday plans? As for me, I'm nursing a sore arm. I went for a road trip on a motorcycle and the person driving went a little too fast, so I was holding on for dear life. 😱 Have you got any similar stories (something that really got your heart racing)? I would love to read all about them here.

Not me but my mum had an incident. Way back in the 30,s when bikes were a little different , she was on the back of boyfriend’s bike. He hit a bump and off the back she went , sitting in the middle of the road. Worst part, boyfriend didn’t realise she had popped off and had to gaze at a rapidly disappearing bike an d boyfriend didn’t last long either

Hi, I'll keep with the motorcycle theme. Had the pleasure and exhilaration of the following two memories.

* Riding Eastern Creek circuit (Sydney), reaching 265km per hour on the straight.
* Riding Mount Panorama (Bathurst) legally on a closed circuit at speed (every bit the challenge they say it is).

Both done on registered motorcycles. Definitely, concentration and mindfulness to the maximum. A thrill and privilege to have been given these opportunities.

I remember getting on scooter Vespa 1967/8 with a sidecar we went down this road to a tee junction and it was wet and has he braked it skinned on a cast steel manhole cover and hit a Standard 10 car on the passenger door i saw the driver of the scooter shoot into the air and hit a fence across the road I was sent the other way about 50 to 75yards in pick my self up and walk back home as i got back the lads there saw my hand dripping with b lood it had punched a hole though my wrist and a pieces on the right side of my had had been cut open and a and fractured right ankle the worse part was my new trousers had been ripped open i then spent one night in the infirmary but i have worse since but that a another story

My boyfriend at the time had a bright Orange motorbike (can’t recall the make) my mother told me I was never allowed to go on the bike. As you can guess I did (with cycle helmet on). However one day he picked me up from work to save me walking a long walk, and yes, we drove past my mother 🙄. I was seen!! You can’t mistake a bright Orange bike!! He dropped me at home and left immediately as he didn’t want to face my mother’s anger!!!
ah well, I did continue going on bike well away from where I lived.

hello, well maybe not quite the same but, many years ago, I used to ride dirt track, ie, speedway, and myself and a few friends were visiting Adelaide, when the arrived, to head home we did not go as some thing arose, and we left a later time, so, pushing it it bit over the pace, and as the road was gravel surface, an some vehicles were in front creating a dust cloud, did not negotiate a bend, causing the bike, incidently was a fairly powered unit, to vear from the road, the pillion passenger sort of leaned the wrong way, and we slid down an ambankment, well we was not serious injured, but rather shake ,and the passenger did suffer from a back ache for some time, so yep, get your story as a memory,

Not a motor cycle story but I once gifted my partner a half a day pass to race on some local tracks here in S.A. with a professional driver. First the driver drove in his fancy car then it was my partners turn, he had an absolute ball and it was all on video so many happy memories for him there.
I stayed home, only because I would have been yelling at him to slow down 😂
I would love to get him a voucher to take a flight in one of the old war birds at our local airport, I wouldn't have gone to that either, especially if they started doing loops 😯
