Nothing I’ve experienced is more thrilling than the vibration caused by, and the noise of 790 Harley Davidsons coming into town. But…..preceded by 6 motorcycle cops and two marked cop cars and followed by 24 motorcycle cops and a two further 2 cop cars!

FACT: What is the age group with the highest fatality rate of all motorcyclists? You all probably think boy racers in the 17 - 25 age group. WRONG! Try 40 - 64 age group. Approximately 45% of all motorcycle deaths were in this age group in 2020 and has been that way since 2011, where records I have in front of me finish.

The reason? Unfortunately, I cannot find data to equate motorcycle deaths to brand but from my observation, the problem is two-fold. Firstly, the 40-64 age group comprises of generally inexperienced riders, jumping on a bike later in life to fulfill a second childhood desire. Additionally, the engine capacity restriction for a new rider does not apply for a person who holds a full car, LR, MR, HR or HC licence.

So Mr 55 Year Old can go out and buy a 1848 cc Harley Davidson Street Bob with limited riding experience - no questions asked. Trouble is that Harley Davidson are renowned shocking handlers, and suffer from being overweight and low manoeuvrability. A recipe for disaster!

This parade , you have to ask the "?" In the middle of 'em all, was there a long black m/vehicle with windows all round & a long rectangular box for someone having their "Last" ride ?
