From My Grandmothers Book Circa 1935

The Ginger Fluff Sponge was amazing. The book is deteriorating rapidly so I’m taking photos of all I loved, or made me cringe e.g. the Russian Tonic in the nostalgia section! Enjoy

Nice. What oven temperature do you bake the ginger fluff sponge?

My grandmother used to spit on the tip of her finger and tap inside the oven door. The spit had to have dried in three seconds for the temperature to be right. I usually use 200C as it seems more reliable than spitting on your finger! 🤣🤣

In that case it's 180 degrees fan forced for me. Your wood stove sounds toasty and warm.
