Free EV Charging Stations?

Last week, I was gobsmacked to learn that there are two free EV charging stations at Booragoon Shopping Centre in Perth's southern suburbs. These two parking spots are the closest of any to the entrance near Coles, including disabled parking spots. I have a major problem with this on a few fronts.

Firstly, why is it free? I haven't seen free petrol pumps at shopping centres in my life! This means that drivers of petrol and hybrid vehicles are financially discriminated against. And why should the owners of EVs be treated more favourably? Your guess is a good as mine.

Secondly, why are these stations located closer than ANY other parking spot to the centre entrance? Once again, discrimination raises its ugly head. A nearby sign says "For use by EV owners only - three hour limit". What is there to stop ANYONE parking there, regardless of the vehicle type? Nothing - there is NO law restricting the use of these parking spots, same as "Seniors Parking" and "Parents With Prams" parking. Cannot be policed or enforced.

Thirdly, is the self entitled attitude of many EV drivers. When I discovered these spots were free, a white Tesla was occupying one of these spots with numerous notes under the windscreen wiper. Apparently, the Tesla had been there since before 9.00 am and the time was 1.30 pm. I left my own explicit note for fun, stating that I would be waiting for the driver. I went about my business and returned just before 3.00 pm. The Tesla was still there.

Bingo! At about 3.30 pm, the driver was loading groceries so I approached him and asked him why had been there for around 6 1/2 hours. He said he was only there for half an hour! BULLSHIT! I told him he was a "lying self entitled #*%@". He jumped in his car and sped off, turning into the path of an oncoming car and almost collecting them. What a damn goose in more ways then one! Anyway, I had some fun on a Monday afternoon.

What is your take on this subject? Free electricity for the elite while us mere peasants pay exorbitant fuel prices!
