You see, the 55-year-old TV star found herself in quite the pickle when she suddenly ran out of store-bought tortillas. Determined to make a tasty meal despite the setback, Natalie took to the internet to find an American tortilla recipe she could recreate in her own kitchen.

Interested in trying this gastronomic adventure yourself? Well, Natalie shared a straightforward tortilla recipe that only requires five basic ingredients: flour, salt, baking powder, butter, and water.

First, mix these ingredients together, and then knead the concoction into a thick, heavy dough. Once that's done, cut the dough into manageable portions and let them soak in water for about half an hour.

As Natalie demonstrated in her video, grab each dough piece, flatten it thoroughly with a rolling pin, and finally, cook each tortilla in a hot frying pan for 30 seconds on each side until they're a lovely shade of brown.

Now, we have to admit that Natalie herself had a bit of a laugh about the labour-intensive process of making these tortillas.

'I could have gone to the shop,' she joked.

But, having tasted delightful homemade tortillas ourselves on a previous occasion, we believe it’s well worth the extra effort to make them from scratch.

Why Homemade Tortillas Are Best for Your Health

Natalie has come a long way on her journey to a healthier lifestyle, recently sharing that she's the 'fittest [she's] ever been' thanks to a 'back to basics’ approach. One of the ways she's achieved this is by making her own tortillas from scratch.

Compared to store-bought tortillas, homemade tortillas offer numerous potential health benefits. By controlling the ingredients used, you can opt for more nutritious options such as whole grain flour and natural fats.

Additionally, homemade tortillas are generally fresher, helping to maintain the nutritional value and flavour of the dish. Customising the texture and flavour of your tortillas allows for an even more enjoyable and nutrient-packed meal.

So, why not take a leaf out of Natalie's book and try this scrumptious homemade tortilla recipe that's not only fun to make but might also remind you of your culinary prowess?
