Forget red and green! It looks like Bluey is the theme for Christmas this year

We’re into the 'Ber' months already (September, October…), which means it's nearly that time of year again…

We're talking about Christmas! And with the big day just a few months away from now, people are starting to think about decorating their homes for the festive season.

It seems like the latest Christmas craze among kids (and adults who want to recreate that childhood magic) is all focused on one thing – Bluey-themed Christmas decorations!

The popular cartoon character, who stars in her own show on ABC Kids, has taken the world by storm over the past few years and has become a firm favourite with kids and adults alike.

So, it's no surprise that her fans are eager to get their hands on any merchandise they can find. Forget red and green – it seems like blue-y is the colour of Christmas this year (pun intended)!

It all started when one eagle-eyed shopper spotted the decorations in a BIG W store in Toowoomba and shared the news with the popular Facebook group Christmas Mums Australia.

Since then, Bluey fans have been going crazy trying to find cartoon-inspired decor for themselves.

The decorations include a 4 pack of tree ornaments for $35, which feature figurines of Bluey, Bingo, Bandit and Bluey's house. Individual ornaments are also available; for example, an ornament of Bluey and Bingo can be purchased for $7.

A pack of six Bluey-themed baubles are also available for $25.

BIG W's online store shows that availability is very low, with the six-pack of baubles only being able to be purchased in two out of 20 stores in Sydney – so if you're hoping to snag some yourself, you'd better act fast!

But if you're not lucky enough to find any at your local store (or if they're all sold out), never fear – there's always DIY.

One woman made her own set of Bluey Christmas decorations out of plywood by first drawing her design on the board before cutting out the figures and painting them. She uploaded her crafty creation to TikTok with the caption 'have a very Blueyyyy Christmas' – how adorable!

If you're feeling just as festive as this woman and want to add a little Bluey magic to your Christmas this year, we say go for it! After all, it's the season of giving – and what could be more thoughtful than a homemade decoration?

To get you more in the festive mood, check out this clip of Bluey and her little sister, Bingo, singing their own cute version of 'Jingle Bells'.
