Good news, folks! Eating clean doesn’t have to be such a struggle. If you’re an avid fan of Nando’s but you’re a bit hesitant on giving in to their menu due to how unhealthy their food can be, we have just come across a healthy alternative that doesn’t skimp on flavour!
Brisbane-based health coach and fitness expert, Bec Hardgrave, has shared an Instagram video on her ‘fakeaway’ Nando’s recipe that amounts to only 480 calories per serving while the original has over 1030. Each serving also contains 38 grams of protein, 50 grams of carbohydrates, and a mere 13 grams of fat.
“I promise you my version is just as tasty and is both calorie and macro-friendly so make sure to save this post for later!” she captioned her post.
In the video, she recreates her standard Nando’s takeaway order: peri-peri chips, chicken tenders, corn on the cob, and Nando’s Perinaise peri-peri mayonnaise.
She starts off with a quick grocery run to Coles. Bec grabs a pack of straight cut chips, peri-peri salt, chicken breast, Mild Nando’s Peri Marinade, corn cobs, Lightest LURPAK butter, and Perinaise dipping sauce.
Bec begins by cooking the chips in an air fryer and coating them with peri-peri salt. She then marinates the chicken breast that she had chopped into pieces with Nando’s peri-peri mild sauce before popping it in the oven on high heat. Meanwhile, the corn cobs boil on the stove.
“Did you know a large side of corn at Nando's alone is 642 Calories!!” The fitness coach said.
Once everything had finished cooking, she plated up and dug in. The end result looks absolutely delicious!
Users raved over the health expert’s brilliant recipe and showed their gratitude for sharing such a delicious, easy and healthy meal.
“Big yummmmm!” One user wrote.
“This looks amazing!!!!” another commented alongside several heart-eyes emojis.
“I make this too!! So good.” a third said.
