Feuding neighbours caught on video as years-long dispute erupts into chaos

Neighbourly disputes are nothing new, but sometimes they can escalate far beyond what anyone expects.

What began as a seemingly ordinary disagreement between homeowners soon spiralled into a dramatic confrontation.

What unfolded next left the community in shock and raised questions about how disputes over property boundaries can take such an explosive turn.

A neighbourhood dispute in an inner Sydney suburb escalated dramatically into a physical altercation, with footage of the incident shared widely on social media.

The conflict centred on a narrow strip of land between two properties, which has been a source of contention for years.

Local resident Garnet attempted to move a fence outside his neighbour Grayson’s property, which triggered the confrontation.

Garnet claimed that Grayson had no right to occupy the space, as it wasn’t part of his property title.

The argument turned violent when Grayson allegedly pushed Garnet against a wall during the altercation.

The situation caught attention after the video was aired on A Current Affair.

Garnet alleged that Grayson threatened to restart a circular saw and used it against him.

‘He was like, “I’m going to do you in”,’ Garnet told A Current Affair.

‘I didn’t expect him to, but he grabbed the saw and wouldn’t let go of it.

‘Then he actually started swinging and kneed me in the balls, and then punched me in the balls.

‘Fortunately, he didn’t connect too hard, so it didn’t hurt too much.

‘But still, it’s a little troublesome when your neighbour gets that physical with you.’

According to Garnet, tensions with Grayson began in 2019, shortly after he and his brother purchased their Redfern terrace.

Grayson allegedly told them to ‘obey my rules’ during an earlier dispute over parking.

The ambiguity surrounding the property ownership is compounded by Sydney’s complex laneway system.

‘The problem is, nobody knows who owns it,’ Garnet said.

‘Our property, strangely, goes all the way to the back wall and one metre goes into Grayson’s property and the neighbour between us and Grayson.

‘The city is rife with laneways, nobody knows who owns them.’

The City of Sydney council declined to intervene, advising residents to share the disputed space amicably.

Efforts to contact Grayson after the altercation were unsuccessful.
