Another big business gobbling up the market. There won't be any local pet shops soon. Bunnings have destroyed the smaller friendly hardware stores that stocked everything. Last week staff in our nearest bunnings claimed that there was only one size tap washer made. (because that's all they stocked.) There are 3 sizes but bunnings don't have them all. Spotlight have done the same to all the haberdashery and fabric shops, squeezed them out, and now spotlight only sells rubbish.

Bunnings only allow dogs into their stores if in the Trolleys only . Yep no exceptions at all , other than Guide Dogs of course.
Bunnings allow dogs in store on a lead as long as they have a muzzle on, if not they have to be in a trolley or carried. Any service dog is the exception, eg; guide dogs, companion dogs. I am one of the workers who has to ask customers to follow these rules and the amount of abuse we workers cop from angry people who think they should be the exception to these rules is unbelievable. Well sorry, if you don’t like the rules DON’T bring your dogs to Bunnings. The rules are to protect our customers, team members and to avoid any dogs fighting in store.

Added another: ‘My son called in to Bunnings and got two bandannas, two collapsible water bowls and a little bag that had a few treats, a squeaky toy and two vouchers for free coffee.’

These surprise tokens add a new level of excitement and fun to the shopping experience at Bunnings. Customers are encouraged to keep an eye out for these golden bones and other tokens, as some stores even have a golden hammer and a golden gnome!

Customers have shared heart-warming stories on social media, with one customer revealing that their local Bunnings invited a rescue charity and donated a heap of collars and leads. Another shared that their local store had an animal shelter with puppies waiting for adoption.

It's no wonder that this promotion has attracted a lot of attention, with many saying that they will head to Bunnings to check out the new range. Some customers even expressed their excitement to bring their furry friends along with them.

Key Takeaways

  • Bunnings has launched a new pet range with an expanded product line-up of more than a thousand items.
  • To celebrate the launch, some Bunnings stores have hidden golden bones, hammers, and gnomes amongst the shelves, allowing customers to claim free gift cards and prizes.
  • The promotion has not only attracted customers but has also inspired kind initiatives in some local stores, including inviting animal shelters and rescue charities to join the launch.
  • Bunnings General Manager of Operations, Matt Tyler, has shared that the store is always striving to provide a positive experience for their customers.

To celebrate the launch of the new pet range, Bunnings stores hosted a range of activities, including free colouring-in competitions, kids' DIY workshops, surprise giveaways such as the ‘golden bone’ hunt, and inviting local animal charity groups in-store.

Some upcoming events include:
  • Thursday, March 30: Bunnings Easter Bunny Hop family event with entertainment, kids DIY and more (From 6 pm, check with your local store for specific details.)
  • Saturday, April 15: Kids DIY workshop - make and decorate a dog coaster holder
Free kids DIY workshops usually run every Saturday and Sunday (and additionally on Tuesdays and Thursdays during School Holidays). Please contact their local store for more details.

Mr Tyler also emphasised that Bunnings' store teams regularly organise and run free activities, DIY workshops, and in-store events to create the best experience for their customers, with each store having the autonomy to offer activities tailored to their local community.

While the promotions may vary by store location, Bunnings' commitment to delivering an exceptional customer experience remains the same.

Bunnings staff told me years ago they only stock items which move quickly, in your case the popular sized washers.

This is a reasonable requirement. I would suggest this comes under the heading of "DUTY OF CARE". If a customer is injured due to the fact an employee allowed a non service, unmuzzled dog into the store & it did as suggested a Law Suit would soon be pending. Customers MUST be more understanding in this matter.

Agree with the above . Think of the amount of Nurseries outside of Perth now ?
