Feeling retro? Check out this $70 dupe of a $3000 vintage lamp!

A designer touch is always welcome in a home. After all, who doesn't want a little of that? Unfortunately, buying a designer piece is not always within one's budget – after all, we can't blow through our entire budget on a piece of single home decor, right?
Thankfully, there are more and more retailers coming out with great dupes of high-end items that give us the look we want without the heavy price tag.
The latest one is none other than BIG W, which just released a $70 lamp that pays homage to a vintage designer piece that would normally set you back over $3000!
The new Mirabella Logan brass table lamp is a part of BIG W's spring/summer homewares collection and is inspired by the classic Atollo lamp from the 1970s.
The original was designed by Italian architect Vico Magistretti and won the famous Compasso D'Oro design award in 1979, but it will cost you an arm and a leg if you want to add it to your home décor.
Of course, other Aussie retailers offer similar dupes of these popular lamps for around $250 (like the Garrett table lamp from Temple & Webster), but sometimes even a reasonably priced copy can be out of our budget.
So, we were very pleased when we saw that BIG W had picked up on the retro trend and added their version to their homewares range!
Gary Chen, a Senior Designer at BIG W, told a news source that all year long, they 'monitor' both Australian and international fashion and home design trends.
Aside from that, they also always pay attention to the feedback of their customers and include the comments, suggestions, and other information they get into the creative process for each new season.
'Because of this, we know Aussie families are looking for not only quality everyday basics but also those affordable key trend items like the Mirabella Logan Table Lamp to elevate their homes for the new season,' Chen added.
Retro furniture and home decor are all the rage right now, and even New York's prestigious Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) has embraced the style.
According to Chay Costello, the MoMA's Associate Director of Merchandising, the retro looks of the '60s and '70s are making a comeback in the realm of interior design.
'Then, like now, people were trying to connect with nature. But another reason we ended up with this preponderance of mushroom lamps is that there's an affinity between the form of a mushroom and the function of lamps.'
Whether you go for the designer original or the more affordable option from BIG W, we think this lamp is a great way to add a touch of retro style to your home.
