Fact of the Day: Libraries are older than books
Did you know libraries are older than books? The Library of Ashurbanipal, the oldest known library, was established in the seventh century BCE in Nineveh (modern-day Iraq)—without a single book. Instead, it held 30,000 clay tablets inscribed with cuneiform writing. Remarkably, when Nineveh was destroyed by fire in 612 BCE, the heat baked and preserved these clay tablets, saving their stories for thousands of years.
