Fact of the Day 25.07.2025
Men snore more than women, and anatomy may explain why. During sleep, the tongue, like other muscles, relaxes and can fall backward into the airway, especially when lying on the back. This can partially block airflow and cause snoring. The airway space at the back of the throat is generally larger in men than in women, making it more susceptible to obstruction. As a result, men are more likely to snore, while women, who tend to have smaller airways, may be more prone to sleep disturbances or waking up instead of snoring. Need proof?
