Facebook Marketplace Scam​

I'm sharing the following information that was sent in by our very own member, Marika M.

'I would just like to share how I was scammed on Facebook this week.'

'I saw a lovely cotton dress and it looked cool so, asked about sizings. The person called Gabriela sent me the official size guide and photos of the dress. I queried whether I would be too old to wear it at my age of 67. They assured me definitely not!! RED FLAG! They had not seen a photo of me to qualify that.'

'2nd RED FLAG: Paypal didn’t come up when I tried to pay! Also, the price came up as $2 dearer than advertised, I queried it and they gave a legit answer! I ordered the dress excitedly but the receipt I promised to send them would not send 3rd RED FLAG.'

'I transferred the amount of $48 and they took it but then I realised they had got me!!'

'Fortunately, the bank, ANZ, is trying to fight for me for a refund, not a lot of money, but on a small pension, I can't afford to lose any money!'

'The name that was used sounded Polish.'

'Just don’t want it to happen to anyone else!!'
