Experts compare Kmart’s affordable Freestanding Dishwasher with rival brands — here is the verdict

Kmart is well-known for its affordable range of quality appliances and trendy homewares.

In recent months, the budget retailer started offering its own range of whitegoods under the Anko brand online.

One of the appliances that is gaining traction among Kmart fans is its $399 Freestanding Dishwasher.

The product features 12-place settings — various wash and drying settings such as Intensive, Heavy, Eco, 90 mins, Glass, and Rapid wash — collapsible plate racks, a cutlery basket, and a maximum 2100W power output.

While the product is only available online across all the six states of the country — with limited stocks in Tasmania — the item is proving to be popular among customers.

So, for those who are curious if the budget machine can live up to its hype, comparison website Canstar Blue has tested and compared it to other budget buys from Kogan and ALDI.

Are you ready to know how the appliance performs compared to its rival brands?

Kmart’s dishwasher performance

The Anko dishwasher features a 4.5-star water (WELS) rating (with a 10.8L water consumption per standard cycle) and only uses 0.73kW per hour for a standard cleaning cycle.

Canstar Blue's Home and Lifestyle Editor Megan Birot said that the machine performs well for its price.

“Kmart’s dishwasher fares relatively well in terms of features, although don’t expect to be blown away by its build and design quality,” she said.

“With that said, it has enough functionally for the price you pay and could be a good option for households short on cash or those moving out of home for the first time.”

Kmart dishwasher vs Kogan dishwasher

Ms Birot said that Kmart's dishwasher has the same quality as those of many basic Kogan models, including the Series 7 freestanding dishwasher.

However, she emphasised that the models from Kogan offer more place settings, while the Anko dishwasher has a higher water rating.

Other than the aforementioned differences, both machines are pretty similar as both have basic features and come with a 12-month warranty.

It should also be noted that both dishwashing machines retail for $399.

Kmart dishwasher vs ALDI Stirling dishwasher

According to the comparison website, Kmart's dishwasher is inferior compared to the model from ALDI. ALDI's Stirling dishwasher features more place settings and washing programs.

Aside from the functionality, ALDI's model retails at a slightly cheaper price tag of $349.

However, it should be noted that Kmart's model is on par with ALDI's dishwasher on water efficiency and size.
