Ellen DeGeneres opens up about health struggles and life changes in emotional Netflix special

A world-renowned television host recently shared a startling health revelation that has left fans concerned.

During a routine check-up, she discovered multiple health issues that she had not anticipated, sparking an important conversation about the value of regular medical tests.

Her candid discussion has shone a light on the unexpected outcomes that can arise from seemingly simple procedures, encouraging others to stay vigilant about their health.

Ellen DeGeneres, the renowned comedian and host, has recently opened up about a trio of personal health diagnoses that have left fans both concerned and contemplative.

In her latest Netflix special, Ellen DeGeneres: For Your Approval, she shared with her audience the unexpected results of what she initially dubbed a ‘s***** bone density test’.

The test, recommended by her doctor, led to the discovery that she has ‘full-on osteoporosis’, a condition that significantly weakens bones and increases the risk of fractures.

Osteoporosis is a silent disease that often goes unnoticed until a bone breaks. According to the National Institutes of Health, it is a ‘bone disease that develops when bone mineral density and bone mass decreases, or when the structure and strength of bone changes’.

The 66-year-old explained to her audience what had led to her diagnosis.

‘I had excruciating pain one day, and I thought I tore a ligament or something, and I got an MRI, and they said, “No, it’s just arthritis.” I said, “How did I get that?” And he said, “Oh it just happens at your age,”’ she narrated.

Ellen humorously likened herself to ‘a human sandcastle’, jesting that she ‘could disintegrate in the shower’.

However, behind the humour lies a serious message as the comedian acknowledged that it was ‘hard to be honest about ageing and seem cool’.

The revelations didn't stop there. Ellen also disclosed her diagnoses of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)—conditions she learned about after seeking therapy, following ‘hatred’ from fans.

The former talk show host spoke out on her new show, addressing the controversies that led to the sudden end of her nearly two-decade-long daytime program following allegations of a toxic workplace culture.

In July 2020, The Ellen DeGeneres Show faced severe accusations of a toxic workplace environment involving claims of bullying, racial insensitivity, and allegations of sexually inappropriate behaviour by former producers.

The host subsequently apologised to her staff and delivered an on-air apology during the premiere of the show’s 18th season in September 2020.

In 2021, DeGeneres publicly announced that her show would conclude after its 19th season.

In the special, she also addressed the controversy surrounding her public image, noting the shift from being known as ‘the “be kind” girl’ to being perceived as the opposite.

The comedian acknowledged her flaws, admitting she ‘can be demanding and tough’, but asserted she is ‘not mean’.

For Your Approval is Ellen’s final comedy special of her career, where she shares her experiences with fame, parallel parking, and her life after being ‘kicked out of show business’.

The show premiered on Netflix on September 24.

Ellen DeGeneres recently revealed a surprising triple diagnosis following a routine bone density test, shedding light on her personal health journey and emphasising the importance of regular check-ups.

This startling revelation has not only sparked conversations about health awareness but also triggered widespread concern among fans, leading to unsettling rumours about her well-being.

In a related development, last year, a shocking announcement has circulated, causing fear and speculation about Ellen's life and whether she has truly passed away.
