Eliminate mould for good with this professional cleaner's crucial tips!

Dealing with mould is an all-too-common issue when maintaining a clean home.

Windows, in particular, can be a hotspot for mould growth due to condensation and moisture accumulation.

While cleaning visible mould might seem like a solution, it's often just a temporary fix.

A more proactive approach is needed to keep mould at bay.

Edward Jonkler, an expert from Remora Cleaning, shared some valuable insights on effectively tackling this pesky problem.

According to Jonkler, the initial step involves cleaning the affected areas with household items like dish soap or white vinegar.

These substances are effective depending on the severity of the mould build-up.

However, he also emphasised that to prevent mould from making an unwelcome return, cleaning must go beyond the surface.

He recommended completely removing sealants around the windows and resealing them.

This might sound daunting, but it's crucial to creating a mould-resistant environment.

During the cleaning process, it is also wise to inspect for any cracks or crevices that could be letting moisture into your home.

These small openings can be gateways for mould to enter and thrive.

Sealing these gaps not only helps prevent mould but also improves the overall insulation of your home.

However, the fight against mould doesn't stop there—there are several other strategies you can employ to keep your home mould-free.

Ventilation plays a crucial role in this battle.

In moisture-heavy areas like the bathroom, always turn on the exhaust fan during and after your shower to reduce humidity.

Opening windows and doors regularly can also improve air circulation throughout your home, making it harder for mould to settle in.

Consider using a dehumidifier to draw excess moisture out of the air for particularly humid spaces like bedrooms and living rooms.

Just empty the collected water regularly to maintain effectiveness.

If mould continues to be a persistent issue, it may be time to seek professional help.

Persistent mould can sometimes indicate underlying structural problems that require expert attention.

If you constantly fight mould at home, professional inspectors can identify the root cause and provide a long-term solution.

Remember, mould isn't just unsightly; it also has implications for your health, particularly those with allergies or respiratory issues.

By taking these proactive steps, you can protect your home and health from mould-related risks.

Use the good old feather duster regularly.

I find dusting and in-between everything and under everything helps to also keep mould away.
