Electron Tube

Who remembers the wireless with its valves glowing, bringing the evening news or a favourite tune? The RCA electron tube is a piece of history from a time when fixing things was second nature. If the radio crackled or the TV dimmed, you didn’t throw it out—you simply swapped a valve, and it was back in action! And if you couldn’t do it yourself, there was always a local repairman who could fix it for you.

I remember them well!

When radio or TV had problems we had to work out which tube was at fault! Some supply shops would test them and supply new ones which we would then have to insert.
