In a harrowing incident akin to a crime thriller scene, a couple in their 60s experienced an invasion in their Donvale home, where they were held at knifepoint by four anonymous intruders.
The invasion occurred on June 23 last year, where suspects assaulted a 65-year-old woman and a 67-year-old man, tied one's hands behind their back, and covered the other's victim's face.
The group ransacked the property, demanded access to a safe and took off with $160,000 worth of luxury items—including a Cartier Tank Musk watch, a Tudor Heritage Chronograph watch, and a gold necklace, among others.
Upon investigation, Victoria Police believed that the couple was targeted by mistake. However, Police released sketches of two men believed to be helpful in the investigation and appealed to the public for any information.
The suspects are described as being of Pacific Islander appearance in their 20s, with solid builds—one with facial hair and the other with a distinctive neck tattoo.
Detective Senior Sergeant Justin Mercovich expressed the incident as 'incredibly stressful' for the victims.
He also reassured the public that the police are committed to finding the assailants.
'We are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the group in Beckett Rd, Donvale, on the night or noticed any suspicious activity in the area,' he pleaded.
Witnesses can also forward any information related to the crime to Crime Stoppers.
In a separate incident, another couple from Sunshine Coast were held captive by four unidentified men in their home.
The men wielded baseball bats and a firearm and allegedly assaulted the 75-year-old male homeowner and caused a broken arm.
