Eco-friendly products for the average Aussie

Just from one’s usual grocery run, there is already so much plastic waste that accumulates. From the piles of plastic bottles from kitchen cleaning products and laundry liquids, it is hard not to be conscious on how to be a more eco-friendly shopper.

Thankfully, there are already a few Australian cleaning brands out there that offer easy solutions that are friendly both for the environment and for the wallets.
These brands reduce waste from packaging by opting to use minimal and recycled materials. The products which include hand soaps, dishwashing liquid, all-purpose cleaners, and others, are also naturally derived and made without toxic ingredients.

And these also give the average shopper chances to support local and small businesses. One can reduce transportation miles and at the same time, get convenient alternatives that reduce single-use plastic waste.

Here are some products that will help you make the greener switch.

Green Potions

If you need products that take out the hard work in cleaning, then small business owner Amanda McGrath has something for you.

Green Potions provide natural and eco-friendly cleaning products made for the toughest of jobs. Some of the items they sell are laundry powder, kitchen degreaser, stain remover, cream cleanser, and many more.

“Our products are tried and tested on every cleaning job you can think of, so we know our stuff works,” swears Amanda, who is a cleaner herself.

She ensures the effectiveness of her products by keeping close watch of the making process. Many of the plants she uses to create the products are grown on a property near her home in Queensland.

Zero Co

Sydney-based small business Zero Co prides itself with its eco-friendly packaging.

With his passion to clear our oceans of plastic waste, Mike Smith founded the company in 2019, and uses plastic gathered from landfills and bodies of water to make their products.

Ordering from the brand will get you a refill pouch of the product, a reusable plastic bottle made from recycled material, and a reply-paid post package. Once the product has been emptied, you ship it back to Zero Co and they wash and refill it for you.

Zero Co hopes to have saved 21 tonnes of environment-bound plastic and turn it into reusable products by the end of the year.
