Number of Earths that fit in the Sun.jpg
The clear ball represents the volume of the Sun and the blue balls represents the number of Earth's that would equal the Sun in volume.

Trying to show the Sun, Moon, Earth and space between them to scale in a single image is pretty pointless.

You'd need an image the size of a football field, at least, and the moon would still just be a tiny dot too small to be seen without a microscope.

Thank you for the information. It's mindboggling when you try to imagine the size of the Sun & other much bigger stars.

We certainly have some extremely clever & smart people amongst us which is fantastic who contribute a lot of "Historical" facts to us. This time of 'THINGS" about our solar system.

Who knows about the Oort Belt, also called "Cloud" of the solar system ? Interesting to know about it. The Dutch astronomer, Jan Hendrick Oort is accomplished/attributed of its discovery in 1950. Jan Oort was born 1900 - 1992.

For those who don't, it's certainly worthy of an interesting read indeed. The mind just boggles with many of the associated facts.

Thank you. More research for me.

It has been suggested that some of the meteorites that strike Earth come from the Oort Belt. But not having been there recently I can't confirm that suggestion. Maybe next holidays
