Easy Meat Pie

This is another one of my family favourite pies​

Ingredients​

  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 500g beef mince
  • 1 cup water or 1 cup of beef stock
  • 2 beef stock cubes
  • 1/4 cup tomato sauce
  • 2 tbp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 pinch salt and pepper *to taste
  • 3 tbs plain flour
  • 1 sheet shortcrust pastry
  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • 1 egg to glaze

Method

1. Fry onion until transparent

2. Add mince meat and brown.

3. Add beef stock / water , tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce salt n pepper . Bring to boil then simmer covered 45 minutes .

4. Mix flour with a little cold water then stir into meat .

5. Let cool slightly.

6. Grease pie tins

7 cut shortcrust pastry I to rounds to fit base of pie dish. Put pastry into pie dish and cover with baking paper and add weights or rice . Bake in a moderate oven for 15 minutes.

8. Add coed meat mixture to pie dish.

9. Top pie dish with puff pastry lids.

10. Brush top with beaten egg.

11. Bake in moderate oven for 35 minutes or until golden brown

Notes

1 . I use the pie dish to cut out rounds. I cut slightly larger for the base.

2 . recipe can be doubled ..

3. You can add vegies to the mince , even sliced mushrooms I would do this just before adding the mince

4 . Pies can be frozen in a zip locked bag.

5. This recipe can also be made in one large pie
