This recipe is great served with pasta , rice or even a bed of mashed potato and green beans
Why not have it with mash and vegetables one day, then with pasta the next
This delicious, satisfying dish is so easy, as the meatballs and sauce are
baked together in the oven.
Ingredients
Sauce
2 x 400g tins chopped tomatoes
1 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
Meatball mixture
500g beef mince
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 onion, finely chopped
1 tsp dried thyme or oregano
½ cup dry breadcrumbs
2 tbsp tomato sauce
salt and pepper to taste
½ tsp each salt and pepper
Method:
• Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a 20x30 cm ovenproof dish.
1 • Place the sauce ingredients in the prepared dish and mix.
2• Place the meatball ingredients into a large bowl and mix until well combined
3 • Shape the mixture into sixteen golf ball-size meatballs.
4• Place the meatballs on top of the sauce.
5 • Bake for 40 minutes, turning the meatballs halfway through baking.
