DON"T USE RINNAI

We have a Rinnai A/C installed for now in our place and over a month ago it started to play up suddenly. It was in the last few months of it's 5 year warranty, but still covered nonetheless. So the store we got it from suggested contacting Rinnai - who then got their service agent to come out. Then we got told it needs some parts and they'd contact us again when they arrive to set a time but we can continue to use it. So Rinnai sends out another company to see if that was faster. Nope this one diagnoses it again as something else! Meanwhile days are ticking and this damn machine has to be turned on/off out at the wall outside or the indoor unit runs! Finally they get a third company to come out and yep it needs a couple of parts but while they are here it blows the fan motor - BANG! SMOKE AND SPARKS! - so now it needs 3 parts and is officially dead! Surely now they will replace it not just fix it! But NO they said they would look into it then after several hot nights and days of silence they tell us they have voided the warranty and we have to pay for the tradesmen that came!

SO don't get a rinnai anything they're warranty is crap and not worth the ink printed on the paper! they are impossibel to deal with and waste time! They even admitted verbally that they voided it as it was nearly out of warranty.

Been to Fair Trading about it but they can't do much - seems they governent has taken a lot of pwer away from them.

Rinnai is arrogant, time wasting, frustrating and don't listen - we will never get anything of theirs again after they strung us along and then cut the warranty.

Go to another brand if you want a new A/C because Rinnai are very bad.

So Rinnai admit they voided the warranty. I hope you kept a record of who you spoke to and when.
Fair Trading are pretty weak if they say they can't do much. Sounds like they aren't doing their job.
Maybe you should contact your local Member of Parliament and give him/her the details. Some of them love making companies cooperate.

You are quite within your rights to have your air con fixed properly or replaced under these circumstances.....keep hounding Rinnai Head Office. If they reject the claim, then get your local member involved....best of luck, keep up the fight.
