Do men purchase their own hygiene products or do they just use whatever is in the shower? Here’s our shocking discovery…

Hygiene products are often marketed to women due to the (possibly accurate) generalisation that women purchase more hygiene products than men.

In fact, there’s a notion that men don’t even buy their own showering products and just use the ones available in the bathroom brought by women.

So, to put this hypothesis to a test, founders of male body care brand Huxden, Olivia Burrows and Catie O'Neil, took to the streets of Melbourne to ask Australian men if they purchase their own shower products or if they just use whatever is already in the bathroom.

Sharing their findings on TikTok, the pair was seen interviewing tradies about their showering habits.

"Are you guilty of stealing other people's stuff in the shower?" the pair asked.

One man admitted: "I think I stole it from my mum's house."

"Yeah, 100 per cent, the wife," another confessed.

The businesswomen even bumped into Married at First Sight alum Sam Carraro who said that he found it "exciting" to be exploring all the products in a "girl's shower", admitting that he is guilty of using the products himself.

Meanwhile, another tradie jokingly said: "I just leave the dirt on my body."

Olivia and Catie revealed that they had interviewed more than 100 random tradies on the street and the pair found out that the majority of men don't buy their own hygiene products… if they have the option not to.

As it turned out, most men use the products that have been bought for them by women, with some admitting that it is not common for them to buy the products themselves.

The video has gone viral on TikTok, amassing more than 211,000 views, from users who left some hilarious comments in the comment section.

A male user wrote: "Defo take the hotel shampoo/conditioner - parents taught me that one."

"Love the nervous foot taps," one woman jokingly said.

So, gentlemen, do you agree with this? Do you purchase your own showering products?
How about the ladies? Do your partners use (read: steal) your shampoo, conditioner, and body wash? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below!

Wow! I must have a very unique husband. He has always bought his own toiletries. He is very fussy about what brand shaving gel, shampoo, conditioner and shower gel he uses. I wouldn't dare buy it for him. Although the kids tend to check out his bathroom shelf to decide what after shave or cologne to buy him. He even keeps his toiletries on a separate shelf from mine and I definitely don't wipe it or heaven forbid rearrange it!

I have 3 grand sons and through the year I pick up different shower or should I say toiletries when they are a new rang at the chemist and put them in a nice box and wrapper it up nice like you do ladies but in a man way. This year I got a surprise one said to me Nan I thought you didn't get our box of goodies that is what they call them one said he keeps his favorites for going out but they wouldn't go in and get them there self's haha

It's funny that my son who lives alone buys his own fancy brand toiletries and yet when he comes to stay doesn't bring them with him but is quite happy to use copious amounts of our cheap supermarket brands. Hubby always just used whatever was in the bathroom.

I briefly dated a bloke who said he’ll only use a bar and of soap, and a cheap one at that. Can’t say I was comfortable thinking about the fact that the Same bar of soap that’s just washed his bum and privates, is the same to wash his hair and face !!!! 🤢
