Discover this $8 secret from Coles and Woolies to restore your white fabrics!

We've all been there—pulling a once-crisp white shirt or a favourite pair of sheets from the wash only to find it dull and yellowed.

As time goes on, stains accumulate and whites lose their brightness, no matter how careful we are.

While restoring the shine to white fabric can be challenging, luckily, a mum shared her secret weapon to do the trick.

Amelia Sidbury, also a laundry business owner, swears by the Dr Beckmann Glowhite Ultra formula, which is available at Coles and Woolworths for just $8 for a box of two sachets.

'When I tell people I had a laundry business, they always ask me the same thing: “How do you get all your whites to be white?”' she said.

'They can't get their white cotton sheets and linen to be bright and stain-free, so I'm going to show you the best product—I've never found anything that comes close to this.'

The Dr Beckmann Glowhite Ultra formula is marketed as an 'instant whitening' solution, designed to eliminate unsightly yellow stains from laundry.

But how does Amelia use it to achieve the best results?

'I open up the sachet and I get maybe four big loads out of this and with it I add my normal detergent and some white vinegar,' Amelia explained.

The addition of white vinegar, a natural cleaning agent, helps to boost the stain-removing power of the product.

For stubborn stains, particularly around the collar, Amelia recommends using a pre-treat stain remover.

'At the moment, I've got a lot of sunscreen on my whites so you'd want to pre-treat,' she said.

'I use Sard, the spray or cream are really good but there are lots of stain pre-treaters that are good...The Sard stain pre-treat spray is excellent. Their in-wash powder is very similar to Vanish, so I buy whichever is on sale.'

'White socks need a concentrated overnight soak—then into the machine the next day,' Amelia advised.

When it comes to soaking laundry, Amelia's preferred whitening powder brands are Vanish and Sard.

'If you have a soak setting (on your washing machine) and you have a big load, you could add a normal white powder with lots of vinegar, put it in there for a long soak,' she said.

'When you then have finished soaking, put it through a normal cycle with just normal detergent.'

The result? 'I'm telling you, your whites will come out so perfect, crisp and white, like they were brand new from the shops, I swear.'

Amelia's laundry tips have been a hit online, with other viewers expressing their eagerness to try out her advice. 'Today is laundry day. I'm going to use this advice. Thanks,' one said.

The secret to the effectiveness of products like Dr Beckmann Glowhite Ultra lies in the science of laundry whitening.

These products typically contain optical brighteners, which are chemicals that absorb ultraviolet light and re-emit it as visible blue light.

This blue light counteracts the yellowish tinge that can develop on white fabrics over time, making them appear whiter and brighter.

In addition to optical brighteners, many laundry whitening products also contain bleach or bleach alternatives.

These ingredients work by breaking down coloured compounds into smaller, colourless pieces, effectively removing stains.

However, it's important to note that not all fabrics are suitable for treatment with bleach or bleach alternatives. Always check the care label on your garments before using these products.

Obviously does not shop at Aldi.

Di SAN or Vanish is not good for my biocycle waste water system , not sure if Sard is alright .
I am very careful and use natural products , no chemicals . When some items need a good clean I soak overnight , in the washing machine or a bucket .

For stains on clothes, I squirt dishwashing liquid and sprinkle bi-carb soda on it, dampen it, then use a soft toothbrush, then throw it in the washing machine.

Shame I never have a full load of whites, so no good for me. I wash all colours together unless they are really good clothes, then I wash the on their own or hand wash.

Do you use Sard Colour Catcher? These are good as you can wash whites and any darks and colours together and there is no chance of any colours running.
