On her blog, The Darling Academy, she has expressed her commitment to blogging and writing as she did in the 'early days' before social media, focusing on homemaking but with 'healthy boundaries' in place.

Pettitt's journey to Australia was accelerated by privacy concerns after her home address in England was shared online, making her feel unsafe. She and her husband, Carl, decided that their hearts were no longer in England and that a move to Australia was the right step for their family.
