Discover the $20 Kmart product that’s giving old furniture an INSTANT makeover!

Recent years have introduced a wave of changes to people all over, including Aussies.

The emergence of tools like Zoom for meetings, online shopping apps, and do-it-yourself (DIY) projects have all left a lasting impression, with DIY remaining relevant and popular.

Recently, Kmart has been making headlines in the DIY community. But why?

Well, fans of the retailer are transforming old furniture pieces using a $20 item from Kmart, causing many to exclaim, 'Brilliant'.

This has sparked a renewed interest and excitement in home makeovers.

The popular item is a $20 five-pack of self-adhesive panels. These panels provide a practical solution to refresh and update your furniture and wall interiors, giving them a modern and chic aesthetic.

Zoe, who runs the social media account, The DIY Decorator, shared her personal experience with these panels: ‘I gave our old IKEA TV unit in the kid's living room a makeover using the new Kmart self-adhesive panels.’

Highlighting the ease of use, she mentioned, ‘Simply cut to size and stick on. It's straightforward. I also changed the unit's handles with the $6 two-pack gold look lip handles, also from Kmart.’

She further added, ‘Super impressed with the adhesive panels for the price—it's foam, but quite dense, so great for this type of project! Can't wait to try the leftover panels out elsewhere in our home.’

Zoe's makeover was well-received by her followers online. One follower commented, ‘That looks fantastic. These panels might also be a safe choice for DIY activities if you have young kids since they seem soft and cushiony.’

Another responded, ‘Whoa, so many possibilities with this product.’

However, despite their growing popularity, some have reservations about these self-adhesive panels.

A Kmart shopper pointed out, ‘I thought of using them as wall panels, but they felt a tad short, so I returned them. They seem less refined up close but are passable from a distance.’

Some also have voiced concerns about using the panels in moist areas due to potential mould issues. Only time will confirm or disprove these concerns.

In addition to the buzz generated by the use of these self-adhesive panels on TV furniture, another creative shopper took centre stage as she repurposed an outdated red vinyl ottoman.

With a $20 investment in Kmart's self-adhesive panels, she turned it into a sleek and minimalist side table.

Kmart advises using the panels indoors primarily on flat, smooth surfaces like ceramic and glass tiles, acrylic wall panels, mirrors, smooth-painted plasterboard, stainless metal, or laminate.

Can these be painted to avoid the mould problem mentioned?
Reads like there made of foam I think there revoltingly cheap and nasty. Not my cup of tea. Sorry.🙀good if you have kids or animals at least they won’t hurt themselves if they fell against them.😇🐾

Not my cup of tea either. Many years ago I inherited some of my grandmother's antique furniture, so I took classes in French Polishing and learned how to restore it. It may not be fashionable at the moment, but I love my antique furniture!
