Discover the $1.35 'miracle' cleaning trick that's stunning Aussie homeowners

Cornflour has long been a staple ingredient in Australian kitchens, but did you know this pantry essential has powerful cleaning properties, too?

One Aussie homeowner is setting social media alight with her incredible before and after photos, proving how a simple mixture of cornflour and water can blast away stubborn grime with barely any effort.

While many think of cornflour solely as a cooking ingredient, it has amazing absorbent qualities, making it a great weapon against grease and tough stains.

The trick works by mixing cornflour with warm water until it has a paste-like consistency.

The homeowner also suggested mixing cornflour with Sard Wonder Power Stain Remover for a 'miracle' 2-ingredient cleaning solution.

'I had a spare 10 minutes, and knew my range hood filter and BBQ trivet needed cleaning,' she said.

'I can honestly say it’s a pleasure to clean them when it’s so easy. I use the same process for my oven racks, roast tray, greasy fry pans, etc.'

The homeowner also shared in another post: 'I’ve posted in comments a few times of how easy things are to clean with Sard power and cornflour (not always used together).'

'I’m a person who hates having to wait, clean it now and get it over and done with, it off the list.”

'I just wanted to share how easy it is to clean some of the grime and oil film off of your frying pans. Tonight I just used the cornflour. Make sure the water is more on the hot side.'

Her post gained attention and garnered reactions from other users who were blown away by the results.

'Great job!' one commented.

'Such good results, look so easy,' another added.

While a third replied: 'Cornflour! Who knew?'

But of course, there was also the occasional voice of caution.

One homeowner warned others of the danger of some cleaning products used on range hood filters.

'You should always be aware of what material their range hood filters are made from before using anything other than dishwashing liquid to clean them,' she said.

'This method, as well as others, may damage them. If it’s not stainless steel, they are likely to be damaged.'

In other news, one savvy homeowner recently discovered a simple method for cleaning rangehood filters without breaking the bank.

The woman shared that she uses the $12.90 Hillmark Rangehood Filterkleen Cleaner spray, available at Bunnings or The Good Guys, to clean the kitchen appliance.

She claimed that it works like a charm and requires zero scrubbing.

'Spray it on, leave [for] 10 mins, then rinse off with hot tap water,' she explained.

'It’s now my go-to method!' she added.
