Discover the ‘no-scrub’ method to get your pots sparkling in minutes

We’ve all been there: After many days and nights of cooking with your trusty pots, one day, you realise they could use a proper cleaning.

Don't worry, we have a tip for you where you can get your pots sparkling without using a sponge!

Mary Futher–who goes by Madame Sweat online–is an etiquette specialist, shared this no-scrub method on social media.

'This is now to never scrub a pot ever again,' Mary said in the video detailing her steps.

'When your pots have debris all over them, fill them with water and put some dishwasher soap in them. Put it on the stove and wait until it boils, and then leave it there for five more minutes,' she advised.

The result? A pristine cooking pot cleaned quicker than you can say 'dinnertime!'

The method was met with enthusiasm from many internet users, who thanked Mary for sharing the trick.

'Wow, this seems so easy!' one commenter said.

'A friend showed me how to do this a few years ago, and it blew my mind,' another exclaimed.

Others were happy to share their go-to tricks for cleaning their pots and pans, with several commenters writing that boiling water, vinegar, and bicarb soda work just as well!

'I boiled dish soap once, and it was so messy, never again! I’ll leave my dishes to soak all night if I have to instead,' one user wrote, unconvinced with the trick.

But while this seemed to be an easy trick, a commenter cautioned against Mary’s method. Some people, especially those on a budget, will go through dishwasher tablets at thrice the rate, and these can be expensive.

One unimpressed mum said: 'That takes so much longer than just scrubbing it with metal scrub’.

Well, to each their own, then! You can watch Mary’s video here:

I use Gumption - it's really an excellent cleaner and you don't need to scrub really hard.

I haven't tried this on a saucepan to see if it will clean the outside but have done it a few times on my oven racks. Fill a sink with hot water dissolve a dishwasher tablet and put the rack in to soak. After an hr or so wipe down and rinse off. Sparkling clean. If racks are horrendously caked with baked on goods then you may need to soak a lot longer.
