We here at SDC love a good bargain just as much as anyone else, and what better way to save a bit of money than doing it yourself?
This was proven once again by a rather smart and creative Aussie woman who wowed fans of Kmart in a Facebook group with her DIY home decor tip.
The woman revealed that, after already having several successful upcycling projects with her husband at home, they were keen to attempt another cost-saving piece of work.
Their goal was to turn a set of Kmart side tables into a stunning coffee table. They had their eye on a coffee table from Harvey Norman that cost an eye-watering $1499, but with the help of Kmart, they figured they could replicate it for about $100.
Using two of the ribbed side tables from Kmart and some materials from Bunnings, the resourceful couple cut and painted the top (using $50 worth of thick plywood) before nailing it all together.
Once the project was complete, the woman posted a photo in the Kmart fan Facebook page, and the group members couldn't help but shower her with praise for her final product.
'Wow, fabulous work, looks amazing!' one said.
Another added that they had done a similar DIY project of their own, constructing a coffee table with the Kmart side tables as the base, plus painted plywood from Bunnings for the tabletop.
Rather appropriately, Kmart then put the popular side tables used in the project on sale for just $39!
For those who enjoy a bit of creativity, DIY really is the way forward – not only when it comes to home decorating, but with a whole range of other projects as well.
If you're a bit of a handyman or woman (or even if you just want to give it a try!), this DIY side table tip could be an inspiration – you could save over $1000 just by being a bit creative!
So, if you have a project in mind for your home, why don't you give it a go? Get creative, have fun, and save big at the same time!
Here’s another genius Kmart trick that will transform your kitchen storage!
