Discover how this single mum's act of gratitude turned into a $3.3 million dream home!

We are always moved by heartwarming stories that inspire us and fill us with gratitude. Today, we would like to share a truly uplifting tale that highlights the incredible rewards of kindness, featuring a remarkable single mother.

Allow us to introduce Sylvia, a devoted single mother raising two boys named Brock and Declan. Life in their cosy two-bedroom apartment was far from easy, especially when Sylvia noticed concerning behaviour in her teenage son, Brock.

‘He got a little bit angry with the world, was just becoming really hard to parent,’ said Sylvia.

It was during this challenging time that Sylvia began searching for a source of support.

To her surprise, Brock took the initiative to seek solace by reaching out to the Kids Helpline. This invaluable resource provided him with counselling and essential life skills training, paving the way for his personal growth and readiness for the job market. Sylvia acknowledges that the helpline not only turned Brock's life around but may have even saved it.

Filled with deep gratitude, Sylvia decided to show her appreciation and repay the organisation for their unwavering support. Little did she know that her act of thanks would bring about a new chapter in her family's life.

Sylvia purchased a ticket for the prize home raffle organised by YourTown, the charity that supports Kids Helpline. But she never anticipated that her small gesture of kindness would lead to winning an astounding $3.3 million prize home!

Located in one of the most picturesque areas of southeast Queensland, this dream home became the setting for Sylvia, Brock and Declan’s fresh start. Within the walls of their luxurious new abode, they began a journey brimming with hope, joy and countless treasured memories.

But this saga provides more than just a change of scenery. Five months after moving into their new home, Sylvia was in for another pleasant surprise.

She had the opportunity to meet Phil, the amazing Kids Helpline counsellor who offered crucial support to Brock during his hour of need.

Phil's unwavering dedication to helping young lives shines a light on the importance of organisations like Kids Helpline.

He also emphasised the need for increased funding, as currently, Kids Helpline resources are only able to answer two in every five calls.

Key Takeaways
  • A single mum of two boys won a $3.3 million prize home after purchasing a ticket in gratitude for the help her son received from Kids Helpline.

I have supported Yourtown/Boystown for over 30 years. I actually live not far from this prize home. Congratulations to the lucky winner and truly hope that the win brings her happiness and health. It's a beautiful home and area.

Have been supporting them for the last 25 yrs but no such luck yet! Am happy for the lady and wish her all the best for the future.

Oh c'mon you lot, sell the home? Possibly yes but let her and her kids enjoy their wonderful good fortune for a while. Let her have some joy after all her struggle. Great story SDC, they are far too few. Perhaps you could provide us with a link to the website so those who have a bit of cash can buy a ticket.

What a great feel good story .

What I would have done was sell that house and purchase a smaller house for maybe 1.5 million , put 1 million in the bank for future security and donated the rest to kids help line to help other kids.
Then its a win win for everyone
I love the way you think

I support the MSWA Mega Home Lottery. Have never won but never expect to anyway. Always great to help genuine organisations do their work.

I regularly buy these tickets and wholeheartedly agree with your suggestion
After all, who needs a $3.3 million home. Has anybody ever noticed what the yearly rates are on these types.of properties not to mention insurance. You would then need to win lotto to pay the yearly upkeep.
Congrats to the lucky winner.
