One Aussie detailed how she managed to transform her bathroom only using items she picked up from Kmart and how she saved thousands in the process.

The mum, Alex, revealed how she transformed her bathroom for $100 using items from Kmart while saving up for a permanent renovation that she estimates will cost thousands.
In a Facebook post, Alex explained that she wanted to do a ‘temporary makeover’ of her bathroom without spending too much in the process.
To do so, Alex bought several affordable yet trendy items from Kmart, including Self-Adhesive Removable Wallpaper ($15), Rattan & Gold Look Handles (2-pack; $8), Adhesive Vinyl ($3), and Gold Embossed Bathroom Hardware Set ($20).
‘A temporary makeover for our bathroom – all Kmart – for $100,’ the mum wrote in her post.
She continued: ‘This bathroom is our main bathroom, and while we save for the big reno, these Kmart products have come to the rescue.’
Alex also shared that she bought two rolls of the peel-and-stick wallpaper in ‘Cockatoo’, four packets of Gold & Rattan Handles, a roll of Adhesive Vinyl in Oak Woodgrain’, and a bathroom hardware set. She also used Rub N Buff in the mirror frame to clean up her old and dirty mirror.
Seeing the results of her handiwork, hundreds flocked to the comments to say they were impressed with the transformation.
‘It looks beautiful and at such a good price. Great job,’ one wrote while another agreed and said the bathroom had ‘such a good facelift’.
‘Great job! If you use white grout paint on the floor tile grout, the bathroom will look new again!’ One suggested.
Previously, renovation queen Cherie Barber shared her tips and tricks to transform your home without breaking the bank. According to her, everyone wants to know the shortcuts to elevate the look of their homes – which can end up costing more if you’re not careful. Now, she’s sharing advice based on years of doing home makeovers.
First, you can update your space in a quick and easy way by giving it a ‘cosmetic refresh’ using paint.
Ms Barber describes paint as ‘liquid gold’ for your house when it comes to adding value. ‘It’s a luxury addition but adds so much, not only for practicality but visual aesthetics too,’ she shared.
Next is to buy appliances in bulk. ‘You’ll save so much more than if you buy them separately, and there are great package deals around,’ she explained.
Additionally, Ms Barber said you don’t have to buy brand-named appliances and instead visit factories and wholesalers rather than convenience stores such as Bunnings.
‘'I buy my bench tops at a bench top factory for $150. At Bunnings, the same amount would cost me $500. You wouldn't go directly to the specialist with something else. Why would you do it for your kitchen?’ Ms Barber told reporters.
In line with this, Ms Barber advised to ‘shop around’ for flooring and tiles at factories to save massive sums.
‘Lighting is so important in a kitchen,' she added. 'I buy all my LED downlights from an electrical wholesaler for $8.50, and the same thing would cost me $35 in Bunnings,’ Ms Barber remarked.
The last tip is to try and negotiate a ‘full-packaged deal’ with your tradies to ‘avoid paying them hourly rates’.
‘This sort of thing will often make your budget spiral out of control.’
This advice comes after Ms Barber’s quest to help a young family in NSW give their property a facelift. The family had two garages on either side of their house, which were filled with old junk, and they said they needed to do something about it if they wanted to add value to their property.
