Did this Woolworths website glitch affect you?
These days, it's actually quite hard to imagine life without the help of apps and websites that make so much of what we do–from grocery shopping to general internet searches–so much more convenient.
But, as with any technology, there's always the chance of bugs, glitches, and other tech hiccups that can get in the way of our daily tasks.
Recently, Woolworths customers experienced such a hiccup, though it only appears to have been a minor one.
The glitch was discovered on Sunday, September 3, and continued into Monday, when shoppers found that the retailer's online search function was a bit wonky.
Whenever customers tried searching for popular products using the search bar, only limited results would appear. After making multiple attempts, the error was finally revealed.
A message was then posted on the Woolworths Australia website and app, informing customers that they were experiencing trouble with their search function but were working on a solution.
'We are experiencing a problem with our search. We are working on it and hope to restore the functionality soon,' it said. 'We apologise for any inconvenience.'
Since then, Woolworths has been in contact with a news source to clear things up and provide some more details about the issue.
A spokesperson said that customers could still search for products but that some product searches may not appear in category searches.
‘Our team is working to resolve the issue, and this should be fixed in the next few hours,’ they added.
As of writing, the message on the Woolworths website has been removed.
Previously, a Woolworths shopper experienced a receipt glitch at the store, which left her with an additional $336 on her bill. It turns out that the hot roast chicken was overcharged due to a computer glitch.
The customer was soon refunded for the mistake, and she walked away with the chicken for free. ‘The guys at Woolies were absolute champs. We all had a laugh, and I walked away with a free bird,’ she said.

Last month, Coles shoppers experienced a similar website incident. It seems that an IT system glitch resulted in customers being charged $0.01 per collectable instead of getting it free for every $30 spent.
As soon as Coles became aware of the error, it sent out an email to those affected explaining the situation. The retailer refunded 1 cent per collectable and gave their customers a $5 credit. You can read more about this story here.
