Did this Mum ruin her daughter's wedding dress reveal? You be the judge!

We’ve all heard stories of mother-daughter relationship drama, and unfortunately, it seems that even the most amicable relationships can come under strain when wedding planning — and weddings in general — come into play.
One bride, in particular, has taken to social media to post how her mother ruined a very special moment on the morning of her wedding day – the dress reveal.
Phaedra Peer, a British then bride-to-be who tied the knot on the 25th of June, took to TikTok last week to share footage of the incident.
‘Still not over this,’ she captioned the video along with a face with tears emoji.
The short five-second clip, viewed more than 21 million times on TikTok, shows Phaedra standing just beyond a doorway revealing her beautiful wedding dress — when her mum barges in front of her, seemingly without a care for her daughter’s moment.
‘When you’ve been waiting six months to do a wedding dress reveal for your bridesmaids and your mother ruins it,’ she said.
Understandably annoyed by mum’s inconsiderate behaviour, people rallied behind her and reprimanded the mother for stealing attention away from her on such an important day.

One person said: ‘Exclude all mothers and mother-in-laws from any behind the scenes moments. They ruin it more than the kids do. And they're the adults.'
‘I learned after my quinceañera, don't give my mum too much liberty because she'll make it about her. Always. You look beautiful,' another wrote.
Other level-headed observers meanwhile chose to give mum the benefit of the doubt.
‘She looks like she was trying to get out and line up to look with everyone else,’ one user pointed out.
Another said: ‘Aww, she looks like she was rushing to remove herself from your spot.’
‘Unfortunately, it’s one of those “good intentions don’t count” moments.’
Story over, right? Hapless bride wronged by oblivious and inconsiderate mum.
Nope!

Thankfully one user was astute enough to ask for more details by requesting Phaedra to show the full video, which the bride then granted access to.
In the longer version of the video she posted, her mum did appear to be just making a quick walk to get out of the way.
Other users shared the same realisation.
‘She was definitely trying to get out of the way and see their reaction as well,’ one said.
Another wrote jokingly: ‘Your mum did not ruin it. She was trying to get out of the way, (the bridesmaids) were around the corner.’
One user even took Phaedra to task and asked why she was letting her mum ‘catch bullets’ in the comments section since it was rather obvious the mum ‘didn’t ruin’ anything. The bride responded: ‘Because people's opinions on the internet don’t hurt me (or my mum) in real life?’
Speaking of holding people accountable, Phaedra also uploaded a recent post taking aim at how the media covered the story.
For the most part, she poked fun at articles posted online with a short commentary.
However, she also clarified some things she found disagreeable: ‘I didn’t say that my mum made the moment all about her, and I didn’t say she pushed through the doorway as I went to step through it.’
‘So, get your facts right!’

Phew! This story has twists fit for an arvo soap opera.
While you’re trying to make sense of this bridal incident, do be sure to check out this bride’s wedding cake nightmare, or perhaps this tear-jerking story of a little girl’s question that made her dad-to-be cry at a wedding.
What do you think? Were people too quick to cast judgement on Phaedra’s mum? Did they read too much into the bride’s post, which was made in jest?
