Competitions:

If you are considering entering competitions, it may be worthwhile creating a new email address, as you’ll quickly find your inbox filling up with mail from promoters. Remember, you can always unsubscribe from emails, but you should stay subscribed while any competition you entered is still running (that’s often in the T&Cs).

Don’t forget to take note of the start date/end date in the T&Cs. It’s not good if you’ve run out and bought a product to enter, then discover the competition closed the previous day. ☹



There are many online sites that run AFL/NRL tipping competitions. My favourite is sportsbet.com.au, which offers free tipping. Things have changed since I joined, but I found this link: Getting Started – Sportsbet Help Centre, which steps new members through the signing-up process. You will need to submit an ID to verify your account. Why do I like sportsbet tipping? Once you have a login, go to 'Tipping & Games' on the left-hand side, and you can tip weekly for AFL, NRL or both. Every week, for both codes, those who pick the most winners in the round (one or many people) share $7,500. Out of these winners, closest to the points difference (one or many people) share another $2,500. It’s fun to participate, even if you know nothing about AFL or NRL.

I’ve won minor prizes from the $7,500, which I’ve chosen to back on random horses, rather than withdrawing my winnings from Sportsbet.
