Mine always ask my daughters if they can come for dinner and I get hugs from 2 of them as soon as they come in .

My old ex mother-in-law critiqued EVERYTHING we did; nothing was as she would do it and she was sooooooo looouuud so emotional about it.

I used to ask if she thought we were breathing properly in the middle of her rants, but she never responded. Thank God both of them are no longer in my life.

Many have similar experiences, but I am sure there MUST be some truly great mothers in law out there...

I always liked my mother-in-law much better than my own mother. She was kind and thoughtful and always helpful to me.

Me too! I had the best mother-in-law in the world, and it’s always been important to me to emulate her. I know my son-in-law and daughter-in-law think highly of me. They both lost a parent early this year, within three weeks of one another, and they have both said how lucky they feel to have me and my husband in their lives, as it makes their losses a little easier to bear.
