Cynical supermarket traps

Supermarkets are experts at forcing customers to buy more or spend more. Here are a couple of ways they force you to spend more than you want to. Notice that things like meat for instance is always packaged in threes, or fives. Never twos or fours. If you are a pensioner couple who want say two pieces of steak, you have to buy three. You can't just buy two. You are then left with one piece you didn't want to buy. Or you have to buy two packs and freeze the other pieces. People might say this is fair enough, but it's not. You are being forced to spend more than you really want to.
Look at pre packaged vegetables Same thing. For instance sweetcorn is always packed three to a pack.
Look at bread. The slices are now so thick that you cannot make a decent sandwich because the bread is so thick. This is of course so that there are physically less slices per loaf, so you are forced to use a loaf faster, so you have to buy bread more often. Again, this is a cynical, rip off supermarket ploy.

I never thought of it that way, and you made me realise that it is quite a concerning tactic to get shoppers to spend more... Thank you for sharing this with us, @KevinF!
