Custom cake order for partner goes wrong
- Replies 0
Have you ever tried baking something, members? How about making a birthday cake for a friend or family member? I (the writer of this article) have never been entrusted with birthday cake duty, mainly because I lack the skills to successfully bake a cake.
When I know I’m out of my depth, I tuck away the ingredients, step away from the kitchen, and let the pros handle it. (But if you have any tips for me, please let me know!)
But what happens when even professional bakers fumble? Such is the case for one woman, who was left disappointed when she tried to order a custom cake for her boyfriend's birthday.
A woman from New York was left shocked after seeing the custom cake she ordered (and not in a good way).
The girlfriend was assured by the bakers that they would be able to make the cake look ‘exactly’ like the one in the photo she gave them, as seen below:
The woman posted in a popular Facebook group called What I Asked For VS What I Got and attached the photo above as a reference. The lavish design consisted of various chocolates, lollies, and mini bottles of whiskey.
‘She told me she can do it exactly like the picture. She wrote it all down correctly on the slip. The only thing we agreed on was that it wouldn’t be a tall cake,’ shared the girlfriend in her post.
The woman also said she spoke with bakers two weeks in advance.
‘We agreed to put Reese’s, pretzels, Oreos, KitKats, with the Jack Daniel bottles on top of the cake,’ she explained.
But when she picked up the cake, she received this instead:
Disappointed, she asked the girl behind the counter to fix it.
Instead, the girlfriend said the girl brought out the cake again and insisted this is all they can do for her. ‘Then she told me to go to the store and get candy to put it on myself.’ Well, that’s certainly infuriating!
The girlfriend requested that the store take all the candies off and try again, but all she was left with was a cake decorated with M&Ms, chocolate pretzels, and cannoli, plus icing writing that she did NOT ask for.
The woman admitted that she wasn’t expecting the cake to look *exactly* like the reference picture, but when she ordered it, she wished the bakers could’ve at least informed her that they didn’t have the decorations she wanted.
Despite not getting a refund, the woman saw the funny side to this incident – just like many social media users who reacted to her ‘fail’.
‘Maybe if you drink enough, it’ll look like the first picture,’ someone joked.
Another added: ‘Those Hershey’s Kisses are at least 100 years old, and you cannot tell me different. Why would they actually put those on a cake?’
Well, folks! We certainly had a good laugh over this cake blunder, and we hope you did too! Hopefully it still tasted good! Have you had similar ‘fail’ experiences as well? Share them with us in the comments!
