Cruel surrogacy scam targets couple, costing them $13,000 – Find out their heartbreaking story here

Scams are not just a financial burden; they can also be costly to the emotional well-being of victims and their families. Not only do scams leave victims feeling unsafe, but they could also lead to the development of psychological symptoms such as depression and anxiety.

In some cases, victims can be so traumatised that they fear speaking out publicly, compounding feelings of hopelessness and shame. This is why it’s important to be compassionate to people who experienced getting scammed.

But as unfortunate as it sounds, scams have become rampant in today’s society. But it's particularly disheartening when they target unsuspecting and vulnerable people, especially those desperate to expand their families.

One couple, known for their unique 37-year age gap, has recently fallen victim to a scam that cost them over $13,000 and dashed their hopes of expanding their family.

Quran McCain, the 25-year-old husband, and his 62-year-old wife Cheryl McGregor, hail from the state of Georgia in the US.

Last year, they embarked on their surrogacy journey to become parents. But the grandmother of 17 and her husband were left heartbroken when their surrogate allegedly backed out as their surrogate, causing them immense emotional pain and financial losses.

The unnamed surrogate had allegedly been breaching the contract by having unprotected sex with her partner while the egg was fertilised, claimed the couple.

‘At the moment, it does feel like people are reaching out to us for the wrong reasons,’ Quran said in an interview with reporters.

‘We're completely broke. We don't get paid for our content [referring to the couple’s ‘job’ as social media content creators]. And then the surrogate goes and bleeds us dry,’ he continued.

Quran explained: ‘We had paid for her food and travel and even gave her money for her and her family to enjoy Christmas.’

The man also added that he and his wife wanted the surrogate to be happy because she was giving them ‘the gift [they’ve] always wanted’.

‘It just feels like we’re always getting screwed over.’

But despite the setback, the couple admitted that they haven’t given up on starting a family. They also shared they’ve already decided on a baby name.

‘We’re extremely hurt, but we’re going to keep going. We still want a… baby,’ Quran stated.

The couple also shared the devastating news to their followers on social media.

‘Couldn’t you adopt? Just a thought,’ one social media user said.

‘It’s all going to get better soon, just don’t give up,’ another stated.

‘Sincere good wishes finding a suitable surrogate, make them sign a legal contract,’ someone else suggested.

Quran first met Cheryl in 2012 when he was just 15. He worked in a fast food restaurant managed by Cheryl’s son, Chris. However, romantic feelings didn’t blossom until much later.

Despite Quran being younger than one of Cheryl's own children, the couple said they feel an undeniable connection, proving that love knows no age boundaries.

This story is a cautionary tale for all of our members, no matter your age or circumstance. Always be on the lookout for potential scams and take the necessary precautions to protect yourself and your loved ones.

He likes to feel old age creeping up on him?

I have no issue with the age gap in this relationship but this is wrong on so many levels. This reeks of selfishness with no thought for the child they are trying to get. The chances of any such child reaching adulthood with both parents is slim, after all the mother would be 80 by the time the child finished high school. There are reasons why couples like this are rejected by all ethical services which is why they have obviously gone to the internet to get a surrogate. What could possibly go wrong? Perhaps they need to give up their 'internet content creator' roles and get real jobs, paying real money and have a good hard look in the mirror at what they are doing.

No! They are everywhere. I was one, I married my last ex-husband when I was 41 & he was 12 years my junior. The sex was amazing Which is what made me think it was the real thing. We had a baby when I was 40 years & 4 months old. It was a blessing & the hardest thing I have ever done being a mother at that age was hard. That is when I died 5 times & was let back to tell everyone that there is nothing when you die but death. Well for un-believers like me anyway! I would never encourage anyone to have a child after 40! The marriage broke down after 14 years so I didn't give up too soon, he is the one who tried to kill me with a spear-like object. The one I fought back against. The one who made me wary of men in general. I must thank him for that as it has stood me in good stead ever since.

Hells bells, here we go again with the shoe on the other foot. Old lady trying to become a mother. Why would any 62 year old woman want a baby to look after. Kids are hard work when you are young enough to enjoy being a mum, I can’t imagine trying to look after a baby, toddler, teenager (if she is still around) at her age. I had my 7 year old granddaughter for 2 nights, 3 days recently and I was exhausted when she went home. She is such a joy but full on non stop while she is awake, and sleeps poorly so needs attention during the night as well. I am in my late 60s and no way would I have the energy needed to have full time care of a child. I’m sure in the case of older mothers, fathers the children miss out on a lot of aspects of childhood enjoyed by children with younger parents.

This is so wrong on all levels.

Firstly 37 years years age gap is beyond ridiculous, either he really can't get someone his age or he was looking for a mother or he was after her money

$13,000 for a surrogate is very cheap.

At 62 I hope she has the energy to run around after a child . I'm 61 and love my grandchildren to the moon and back but we can only look after them in short burst ( Note I said we )

Maybe this story is a prank 🤔

Nana there is a big difference between 12 years and 37 years. My aunt has 12 years between her and hubby and they have a wonderful marriage. He is the same age as me and at the time everyone was calling her a cradle snatcher .

I was 43 when I had my youngest and I had so much more energy with my older kids.

I had a miscarriage when I was 30 and haemorrhage I died 3 times having an anaphylactic reaction to the anaesthetic. I saw my mother inlaw who had died before I met hubby , she told me to go back that I couldn't leave her son and grandchildren. I told hubby about this dream when I woke from my coma and they had removed the life support, you cant talk with the tubes going down your throat. It was at this time he told me I had died 3 times
