“In need of a new side table I decided to get creative using some porta timber and terrazzo,” said Samantha.
For this project, she repurposed the terrazzo outdoor table-top with some timber dowels, round chopping boards from Kmart, three pieces of timber, and Gorilla glue.
If you’re also looking to do this DIY project, here are the things you will need:
- $49.98 Home Bazar 53 x 50cm Terrazzo Round Steel Side Table from Bunnings
- 2 x round chopping boards
- 3 x pine timber struts cut to 600mm
- Porta 18 x 6mm 2.4m Moulding Tasmanian Oak Half Round dowels cut in thirds (600m)
- Gorilla Glue
- Drill

Here’s how she did it:
First, she made the “bones” of the table. Samantha attached two Kmart chopping boards together by drilling three pieces of 600m pine between them.
Then, she glued the half-round timber dowels to the edges of the baseboard, completely covering it on all sides.
And for the final touch, Samantha attached the tabletop from the $49.98 Home Bazaar terrazzo round steel side table to the top of the wooden base.
Samantha’s DIY project was a huge hit on her Instagram account, and many of her followers were amazed at how creative and lovely the end result turned out.
“Amazing work, and love how you styled it,” one user commented, adding: “Side table perfection!”
“Wow, this is so clever! I love it!” wrote another.
Even Gorilla Glue’s official Instagram account couldn’t help but leave a comment on Samantha’s DIY project. “Looks fabulous!” they said.
