Cook your favourite dishes for less with this supermarket find!

In the current economic climate, where every penny counts, savvy shopping has become more important than ever for Australians.

Everyone is looking for ways to stretch dollars further without compromising on quality.

Several shoppers shared this supermarket find, which could lead to significant savings on weekly grocery bills.

Olive oil is a staple in many kitchens, prized for its health benefits and versatility.

However, with prices soaring, many home cooks have been forced to reconsider affordable alternatives.

Coles recently introduced Coles Simply Olive Oil, priced at $11 for a litre.

The supermarket launched the product earlier this year as a response to the rising costs of pantry staples.

Woolworths has also matched this with their Woolworths Essentials Olive Oil, also at $11 per litre.

Lastly, ALDI has reduced the price of their most affordable olive oil, Remano Olive Oil, to $10.99 per litre.

'We are always looking for ways that we can provide our customers with great value, and our Coles Simply Refined Olive Oil is just one way we are doing that,' a Coles spokesperson shared.

'We know that the olive oil market is under pressure at the moment, and we are working hard to support our suppliers while maintaining availability.'

The Coles Simply range extends beyond olive oil—offering savings on other pantry staples like beef lasagne, BBQ sausages, and classic tomato pasta sauce.

However, it's essential to understand what customers are getting with these affordable options.

'Refined olive oil is odourless, colourless, flavourless, and it's the result of an industrial process to remove impurities, undesirable flavours, and defects,' Monini Olive Oil's President and CEO Zefferino Monini stated.

According to laws, this type of olive oil must be blended with virgin or extra virgin olive oil.

It should also have a maximum acidity of one per cent.

Monini warned customers about vague terms like 'pure' on olive oil labels, as these often indicate a refined product.

'If the label does not specifically mention "extra virgin olive oil", the product is likely refined or a blend with other oils,' Mr Monini said.

He also advised looking for specifics about the origin of the extra virgin olive oil.

Shoppers should also opt for oils in dark glass packaging to protect it from light degradation.

To make your olive oil last longer, Monini suggested storing it away from light and heat, sealing the bottle tightly after use, and considering bottles with spouts or drip-free caps for better portioning.

So, next time you're at the supermarket, keep an eye out for these olive oil bargains.

The last part of the article brings the story back on track. Olive Oil is a very healthy and great food source. I've previously researched olive oils. Never buy blended oils. The best oil is an oil that has been extracted close to the source, as oil can deteriorate. (Luckily, there are several Aussie companies doing this) Good oils actually work out cheaper, as you don't use as much. Taste better in your salads and vegetables. Never use vegetable, canola, etc (this is only marketing), oils as they are manufactured and have the wrong fats for a healthy diet. Remember, "oils ain't oils" (I know, it's an old car oil ad, but it's true).
