Never used any of those contraptions, however when we demolished the out wash house, I kept the double trough, painted it green, and used it for planting (the look of the workmen when I asked for it not to go to the tip with the other rubbish :ROFLMAO: ). Still going 57 years later, currently full of spider plants

I remember mum.had a big double concrete one which was put into a huge outside laundry with boiler and twin tub washing machine.My understanding is when she put it behind the laundry with a spare tap,the new owner which was in his 20s and still lives there with his family still use it and think it's great for washing dirty muddy shoes and anything else that's messy
I had forgotten about that tub.Thanks for the memory
