Coles surprises struggling Aussie family with a truckload full of groceries - all for FREE

As most of us know, the cost of living in Australia is through the roof. The prices we have to pay for basic essential items have seen a pretty steady incline over recent years, and it's those least able to afford it that suffer most.

Fortunately, though, there are some brilliant people out there who go above and beyond to bring a bit of hope back into the lives of struggling families – and Coles recently proved this with one remarkable act.

The Australian news program A Current Affair made excellent use of its airtime by lending a hand to fellow Australians who deserve nothing less than good fortune.

The news program teamed up with Coles supermarkets in order to surprise some struggling families around the nation with a much-needed grocery delivery—all entirely free!

Robert is one such recipient; he is an elderly gentleman who has care and custody over six grandchildren under 18 years old.

Robert works every day while drawing on his pension just so he can provide basic sustenance for his family—yet despite these extra efforts, he still finds himself straining to provide three meals per day plus other necessary items like school supplies or toiletries.

Fortunately for him, Coles came up with a solution that would later remove a heavy burden on his back. The supermarket giant brought around an entire truck full of groceries for Robert's family – enough food supplies to last them months!

What a wonderful way for this family to feel seen and cared about! It's comforting to know that there are people and organisations out there working hard to look out for those affected by financial strife.

After fresh data showed that 75 per cent of Australia's poorest households wouldn't have enough money to buy food for Christmas, this was wonderful news.

According to a study by the Salvation Army, 62 per cent of respondents indicated they would struggle to pay for their children's gifts, and 91 per cent of respondents were concerned about how they would afford Christmas this year.

'As you read and hear about these dreadful statistics, we are on the frontline seeing the people behind the numbers and hearing their stories,' said Major Bruce Harmer.

'We are deeply concerned to hear about the agonising choices everyday Australians are making, such as deciding whether to pay an electricity bill or buy a Christmas present for their child.'

'Others are choosing to go without food and medication to ensure their children have food on the table. The guilt and emotional toll of not being able to provide the basics for their family is the real but often hidden cost of financial hardship,' he went on to say.
