Coles Cafateria

When
I was around 7 years old, we lived on a farm about 170 kms from Melbourne. My eyesight was of grave concern, and every 6 months was taken in the car to the eye specialist in Melbourne. As a treat after that, Mum would take us to Coles Cafeteria in the City. I can remember selecting the plate, and moving along the lines, indicating to the person serving along the other side of the food , what you desired.
I can't remember what food we chose, but the intense noise of food utensils, and plates overshadowed anything else, and has stuck in my memory......at 79 years old (now with very good eyesight), I can hear all the noise still.

I was probably in the same cafeteria at the same time as a 5 yr old. I think mum favoured the Bourke street one opposite Myers. I used to always have the trifle, don't remember the main meal.
