Coles and Woolworths to bring back MASSIVE sale on lobsters – just in time for Easter!

Back in December 2020, Coles and Woolworths first introduced a huge sale on their Western Australia rock lobsters, in a bid to support commercial fishermen who had been impacted by international trade tensions.

This promo caused a massive shopping frenzy among customers – especially those who were looking to enjoy the luxury seafood item just in time for Christmas.

Both supermarkets reported that their lobsters had sold out just an hour after opening, with Woolies forced to implement a limit of four lobsters, per person, per transaction.

That's how popular it was! And just goes to show how Aussies love seafood on their holidays!

Now that another annual holiday is just around the corner, it seems like the two supermarket giants are set to drop the prices of their lobsters again.

It was recently announced that Coles is bringing back one of their most popular seafood offers – from $27 each, the prices of their Western Australia rock lobsters are now down to $22, just in time for the Easter celebrations.

The price drop, which runs from Wednesday until stock runs out (which might be on the same day as well!), is said to be a response to a customer survey that determined that hundreds of Aussies are looking for "great value seafood" for the holidays.

It has been a long-standing tradition for many Aussie families to eat seafood during the Easter period, and according to the supermarket's survey, more than five thousand families are set to follow the same tradition this year.

Andy Mossop, general manager for bakery, deli and seafood at Coles, highlighted the importance of reflecting on their customers' sentiments as supermarkets all over the country head into the second-busiest season of the year.

“We know it’s been a challenging few years for many Australians, and it’s important to understand what our customers are feeling to ensure we can provide the best value and quality on products they need most this Easter,” he said.

“With Easter just over a week away, we are ready for a massive week of seafood sales.”

“We’re delighted to be able to make great quality and responsibly sourced Australian seafood like WA Rock Lobsters more affordable so our customers can treat themselves over the long weekend.”

Aside from the whole lobsters, Coles is also marking down the prices of their black tiger prawns and fresh Tasmanian salmon, giving their shoppers more seafood options for the holidays.

Woolworths has also confirmed that they will be offering marked down prices on their lobsters as well, with the promo running for the next two weeks, until Tuesday, April 19.

“Our team has been working closely with suppliers in WA to ensure customers across the country can enjoy quality lobster as part of their Easter spread at a competitive price,” said Hamish Allen from Woolworths.

So members, if you are looking to enjoy lobsters during your Easter celebrations, we suggest heading over to the supermarkets now! (Or else, you might just miss out.)

I was going to say, I’d eat half a lobster if someone made lobster Thermidor or Mornay for Easter but after watching the Sydney Fish Market’s video, I’ve changed my mind. Cooked lobsters were okay but the wriggling ones still alive has put me off!
