Let’s face it – if there are quicker and easier ways to tackle chores, we’ll try them. There’s no shame in working smarter when it comes to cleaning! So if you’ve been keeping an eye out for life-changing home hacks, then consider your search over and read on.
A Sydney cleaning guru has revealed the top three tips she swears by, from how to get rid of weeds without using harsh chemicals to bringing an old jumper back to life.
TikTok sensation Sophie, who also goes by ‘What Sophie does online, demonstrated the tips in a now-viral Instagram video.
Kicking things off with the first tip on the list, she recommended pouring boiling water on weeds to eliminate them instead of buying pesticides that are harmful to the environment.

'It's great for weeds growing between pavers and on the edge of tiles,' she explained. Just watch your toes!
For Sophie’s second hack, she suggested ‘shaving’ jumpers and hoodies that have accumulated loose threads and lint balls with a razor. She can be seen running the razor over a clothing item, proving that the trick efficiently removes fluff balls and improves the overall appearance of the hoodie.
Last but definitely not least, Sophie recommended adding a few drops of clove oil to chalk to absorb moisture and prevent mould.
'Place them in drawers, cupboards, and damp spaces. They smell great too!' Sophie gushed.

'Boiling hot water? I need to fill my kettle right now!’' declared a third.
Sophie's clove oil and chalk trick has been put to the test by several people including another trusted cleaning and organising pro, Anita Birges.

Anita added that opening as many doors and windows as possible helps prevent mould from growing indoors.
She shared the gritty details of the hack in an Instagram video and explained that opening windows and doors encourages airflow and ventilation.
'We all know that I'm on a constant mission against mould,' the mum said. 'But what is the best way to keep mould at bay? It's airflow and good ventilation!'
Hundreds of users vouched for Anita's advice and shared their personal stories.
'Growing up with an Italian mother, the first thing you do in the morning is open every single window,' a woman wrote.
I wish I had as many windows as you… Living in an apartment can be limiting but I still manage to open them, rain or shine.' she added.
'That's what I've been saying – the easiest way to keep your home fresh and mould-free.'

But a few raised concerns about the seemingly ‘easy’ trick.
'Temperatures are too low where I live to leave the windows open.' one user pointed out.
'I would love to open my windows but I live in the Pilbara and my house would be teeming with flies.' chimed another.
'My next-door neighbour smokes like a chimney, so every time I open my windows and doors my house fills with smoke.' a third commented.
Luckily, Anita confirmed that those who can't keep their doors and windows open could opt for the chalk and clove oil mould prevention hack as it still works wonders.
