Chefs from TikTok share "game-changing" garlic hack
- Replies 2
Whenever we hear the word "kitchen staples", the first few things that always come to mind are olive oil, salt, pepper, and of course, garlic.
Practically every dish we make these days seems to have a few cloves tossed in, whether they're brushed with butter onto crusty slices of French bread, tossed into fresh pasta, or sauteed with oil in a pan.
It truly is a powerhouse ingredient that is a must-have in every kitchen.
That is why there are hundreds of kitchen hacks out there trying to maximise the flavour of garlic. I mean who doesn't want to get the best out of their cloves, right?
Did you know that there is something you can do to your cloves of garlic that will not only enhance their flavour, but can also make your prep time in the kitchen easier?
According to the masterminds behind the cooking account @BouFamilyKitchen on TikTok, all you have to do is freeze minced garlic in cubes.
Here's how to do it:

First, wash your garlic cloves in water, making sure they're all clean and free from leftover skin.
Then transfer the cloves to a food processor, and add a touch of salt and a healthy portion of olive oil (or any oil that you prefer, just make sure it doesn't have a strong taste). The oil is going to help the garlic stay a little bit soft even though it's been frozen.
Blend the garlic cloves thoroughly. Then, spoon the minced garlic into silicone ice cube trays and place them in the freezer.
Once frozen, the garlic is ready to cook whenever you want. Simply remove a cube of garlic from the tray when you’re ready to cook, toss it in the pan, and enjoy the garlicky flavour it adds to your dish!
Yup, it's that easy, folks!
Plenty of users who have seen the video also commented and shared their own kitchen hacks.
One user wrote: "Been doing this for years. Blend separately garlic, dried chillies, and red onion. Cooking has never been easier!"
Meanwhile, a fellow home cook shared: "I also do this with onions, but I sauté the onions first."
Is this frozen minced garlic method new to you, members? If not, do you have other kitchen hacks you want to share with us? Let us know in the comments!
