Aussies are beaming with pride after a locally-made vodka sold at ALDI won first place at an international competition. Cheers to that!
During The Spirits Business Global Vodka Masters for 2022, one of the world's most prestigious series of blind-tasting spirits competitions, an independent panel of expert judges selected ALDI's $30.99 Tamova Quadruple Distilled Vodka as the winner in the Premium category.
Professional tasters evaluated 139 different brands of vodka from 75 different producers around the world before awarding the Master Medal to the discount retailer's very own bargain mix.

ALDI's recent victory was praised as a 'great achievement' by Melita Kiely, editor of The Spirits Business.
'To receive any sort of medal is something that every company should be extremely pleased with,' she said, adding: 'And for ALDI Australia to receive a Master medal, the highest medal we award, for their single entry within a very competitive selection is an excellent achievement.'
'The multi-award-winning vodka, part of ALDI's everyday range, is four times distilled and traditionally filtered for exceptional purity and a clean, crisp natural flavour.'
According to Paul Handley, ALDI Australia's Buying Director for Spirits and Beer, the company takes great pride in selling high-quality alcoholic beverages at reasonable prices.
'Delivering the highest quality liquor at the most affordable price point is our top priority when it comes to what liquor we put on our shelves,' he said. 'We are so proud when our products are recognised with awards such as this one as it shows we are successfully delivering on that low-price, high-quality promise.'
'The multi-award-winning Tamova vodka can be enjoyed in a simple vodka, lime & soda, or is also ideal for making refreshing cocktails our customers can enjoy at home, such as a vodka martini or cosmopolitan.'

The latest victory for ALDI's Tamova vodka is not the first time that the retailer's alcohol selection has been honoured on a global level. This is the fourth time Tamova vodka has been awarded the top spot at an international competition.
Not only did it win the gold medal at the Spirits International Prestige Awards in 2018 and 2019, but in 2020 it also won the Master Medal at the Spirits Business Global Vodka Masters.
The retailer's $30.99 bottle of Darley's London Style Gin also received a Double Gold Medal at the 2019 Global Gin Masters, while the $38.99 bottle of Highland Black 8YO Blended Scotch Whisky triumphed at the 2021 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
