Checkpoint Charlie
Berlin was divided into four sections at the end of WW11. There were American, British, French and Russian sectors. To navigate between the Russian and the Western sectors meant passing through numerous checkpoints around Berlin. The most infamous of these checkpoints was "Checkpoint Charlie". It featured in many movies later on. It is now simply a tourist attraction but remains exactly as it was. The Photo of the Russian soldier in the background shows the entry to the Russian sector. It is now of course all freely navigable. There is now a McDonalds on one side of it and a KFC on the other.
