Cheap chicken mince at Woolies? Select locations are selling it for only $1.20 for an 'unexpected' reason!

In what appears to be a surprising and unexpected move, supermarket giant Woolworths has lowered the price of their chicken mince to as low as $1.20 in some branches, setting off a huge shopping frenzy among their customers.
Bargain hunters in Victoria have taken to social media to reveal how they came across the unbelievable markdown offer at two different Woolworths supermarkets in the state.
The chicken mince packs have a typical retail price of $6 each, but in some select Woolworths branches, they were selling them for only $1.20 each, which resulted in a massive 80% saving of $4.80 on each pack.
Customers are aware that grocery stores will typically reduce the price of perishable meat offers when the products are getting close to their use-by date; however, it would appear that this is not the case on this occasion.
In a turn of events that took every shopper by surprise, the chicken mince packs had a use-by date of June 27 printed on them. This suggests that customers still had a sufficient amount of time to purchase and consume the packs or freeze them before the date that they were to be considered expired.

Sharing on a popular Facebook page, Woolies shoppers in the communities of Kilmore and Wallan claimed that their local stores had an abundant supply of chicken mince at rock-bottom prices.
"Finally got a HUGE score today," one shopper wrote in her Facebook post, adding that the store quickly restocked the shelves after she was done getting her share. "They were gone in a flash," she said.
Another shopper confirmed the woman's claims, saying: "Here at Woolworths in Wallan, Victoria, chicken mince is $1.20 each. They are selling out!"
If you were wondering why these certain Woolies stores were selling their chicken mince for unbelievably low prices, a staffer at the Wallan store confirmed to 7News that they have received an oversupply.
"They apparently ordered too much," said the employee.
Understandably, hundreds of fellow bargain hunters on the Facebook group were blown away and admitted they were jealous of the mince markdown.
"Now, that's a bargain!" one user wrote in the comments section of the woman's post. Another added, "I would have grabbed as many as I could and be set for the next year."
A third user even remarked that if he ever found a once-in-a-lifetime deal like this, he would "buy a chest freezer" and empty the stocks as soon as they were placed on the shelves!
Even here at the SDC, we have to admit that we are green with envy over this deal – what a score!
Now, wouldn't it be nice if all Woolies branches "mistakenly" order too much, eh?
